Currently serving as the Commander of the International Space Station, NASA Astronaut Jeff Williams isn’t scheduled to return to Earth until early September. As of today at 4:56 am ET, however, Jeff Williams’ cumulative total of 520 days, 10 hours, and 30 minutes in space (and counting) across four missions surpasses the previous American record set by newly-retired NASA astronaut Scott Kelly during his one year mission.
Russian cosmonaut Gennadi Padalka holds humanity’s record for cumulative time in space with a total of 879 days spanning four ISS missions and one Mir mission.
